SCROLL DOWN
Calcium deficiency is a growing nutritional concern worldwide
and the impact is particularly evident in Asia.
In many countries, average daily calcium intake falls far below the recommended
levels,
affecting both children and adults.
According to the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF),
this deficiency contributes to long-term health risks,
including reduced bone density and increased fracture risk.
for example, is one of the many countries where calcium deficiency affects nearly 100% of the
population.
More than 60% of individuals are aware of this issue, highlighting the urgent need for
practical, food-based calcium solutions.
we have developed food-grade calcium carbonate products specifically designed to help bridge this nutritional gap — safely, effectively, and reliably.

COLLO-CALSO-EX
For Instant Noodles, Confectionery, and Powdered Foods
COLLO-CALSO-EX is a food-grade calcium carbonate developed through
Shiraishi’s particle control technology.
Its uniform particle size and excellent dispersion properties make it ideal for use
in
powdered food applications such as instant noodles, snacks, and confectionery
By integrating smoothly into flour-based systems, it enhances texture, improves
crispiness, and ensures consistent product quality. In addition to calcium
fortification, it contributes to the overall mouthfeel and bite of the final
product.
Shiraishi supplies COLLO-CALSO-EX to nearly all major instant noodle
manufacturers in Japan, — contributing to a growing global trend of
calcium-enriched instant foods.

LINEUP02
Calessen-P
For Milk, Plant-Based Beverages, and Liquid Applications
Calessen-P is an ultrafine calcium carbonate developed using Shiraishi’s advanced
particle control technology.
Engineered for high dispersion and low sedimentation, it is ideal for liquid
applications such as milk, soy milk, and other beverages.
Even at high concentrations—such as 100 mg of calcium per 100 ml—Calessen-P
disperses uniformly and remains stable with minimal settling.
When homogenized at 15 MPa and combined with stabilizers like gum arabic, it retains
a nearly unchanged dispersion for at least 8 days.
This makes Calessen-P a practical and efficient solution for calcium fortification
in liquid food formulations, without compromising taste or texture.
High Dispersion
Disperses easily in liquids and stays in a dispersed state longer
( Homogenization and stabilizers improve the result )
Calcium Fortification
Improves the nutritional value
( 400mg Calcium / 1g Calessen-P )
30 minutes after mixing
Calessen-P / PCC / Slurry product / GCC
Each sample contains 100mg Ca/100ml water.
The samples have been homogenized with a pressure of 15MPa.
1 day after mixing

Instant Noodles
& Snack Foods
Texture enhancement, calcium enrichment, and mouthfeel optimization
In instant noodles and snack foods,
calcium carbonate is widely used to strengthen the texture, add a pleasant bite,
and
improve crispiness.
It integrates easily into flour-based formulations and helps maintain consistent
quality during mass production.
This makes it especially effective for dry or fried noodle applications and
snack
coatings.
Confectionery
Crispy texture, whiteness,
and visual appeal
In confectionery applications such as biscuits, wafers, and sugar-coated products, calcium carbonate contributes to improved crunchiness and enhanced whiteness. Its consistent particle size supports even distribution in doughs or batters, helping ensure visual consistency and desirable mouthfeel.
Processed
Seafood Products
Elasticity enhancement and
whiteness control
In processed seafood products like surimi or fish balls, calcium carbonate is
used to improve elasticity and firmness, as well as to brighten the final
product's appearance.
Its compatibility with protein-based systems makes it a practical solution for
quality improvement in texture-sensitive applications.
Powdered Foods
Anti-caking, flowability, and
calcium supplementation
In powdered foods such as drink mixes, spice blends, or meal replacements,
calcium carbonate functions as an anti-caking agent and flowability
enhancer.
It prevents clumping, improves handling, and simultaneously adds nutritional
value through calcium enrichment — without altering flavor or color.
Milk
& Plant-Based Beverages
High-dispersion calcium fortification
with minimal sedimentation
In dairy and plant-based beverages, precipitated calcium carbonate (such as
Calessen-P) enables high-content calcium supplementation while maintaining
smooth texture and long-term stability.
Unlike conventional calcium sources, it resists sedimentation and integrates
well with homogenization and stabilizer systems.
At Shiraishi, we understand that different food applications demand different calcium
solutions.
That’s why we offer specialized products like COLLO-CALSO-EX and
Calessen-P — each designed to meet the unique needs of solid and liquid formulations.
Whether you're looking to enhance the nutritional profile of your product or
improve processing performance,
our food-grade calcium carbonate lineup provides reliable,
scientifically proven solutions tailored to your needs.

01
Precision-Crafted Through Advanced PCC Technology
At Shiraishi, we specialize in producing precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) — a
synthetic form of calcium carbonate that offers superior purity, consistency, and
functionality compared to ground calcium carbonate (GCC).
Our proprietary production technology enables precise control over particle shape and
size, allowing us to tailor our food-grade calcium carbonate to meet the specific
performance and processing needs of various food applications.
Whether the goal is enhanced dispersion, improved workability, or optimized nutritional
fortification, our PCC-based solutions deliver consistent, application-specific results.

Collo-Calso-WB ( Ground Calcium Carbonate )
A Cost-Effective Calcium Option for Food Applications
Collo-Calso-WB is a food-grade ground calcium carbonate (GCC) produced by finely
grinding high-purity limestone.
Compared to precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC), it features a less uniform particle
shape. However, it is carefully processed to meet strict food hygiene standards.
With approximately 400 mg of calcium per gram, Collo-Calso-WB is a highly efficient
calcium source.
Its cost-effectiveness and ease of use make it a popular choice for a wide range of food
applications—particularly where affordability is a key consideration.
This product is especially suitable for manufacturers seeking a balance between
nutritional fortification and cost performance, without compromising on safety or
compliance.
