Corporate History
September 1909 Tsuneji Shiraishi developed technique for production of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate by Shiraishi Method. Together with his brother Shozo founded Shiraishi Brothers kaisha, Ltd. in Hiroshima.
June 1914 Acquired patent for production of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate by Shiraishi Method.
November 1919 Founded Shiraishi Kogyo Kaisha, Ltd.
September 1921 Started operations at Kuwana Plant. (September 1976 Shut down)
1927 Acquires patents in the USA, Europe and Japan for production of Hakuenka.
October 1932 Started operations at Hakuenka Plant.
October 1936 Started operations at Tosa Plant.
November 1947 Set up the Tokyo Office
(October 2001 Consolidated into Shiraishi Calcium Kaisha, Ltd.)
December 1948 Set up the Otaru Office
(October 2002 Consolidated into Shiraishi Calcium Kaisha, Ltd.)
July 1950 Built research lab at headquarter.
September   Set up the Okayama Office
(October 2002 Consolidated into Hiroshima Office)
August 1955 Started operations at Amagasaki Plant. (July 2006 Shut down)
April 1956 Set up the Hiroshima Office (October 2007 Consolidated into Shiraishi Calcium Kaisha, Ltd.)
August 1958 Set up the Kurume Office
(November 2002 Consolidated into Hiroshima Office)
September   Started operations at Fuji Plant.
May 1959 Launched Shiraishi Calcium Kaisha, Ltd. as a sales dealer.
July 1961 Started operations at Usui Plant.
April 1963 Started operations at Tokyo Plant. (November 1976 Shut down.)
1965 Tied up with Idemitsu Kosan Co.,Ltd. in the sale of process oil.
October 1966 Relocated headquarter to Motohama, Amagasaki.
September 1967 Tied up with Thiele Kaolin Company (USA) in the sale of kaolin.
October 1968 Set up the Osaka Office
(October 2002 Consolidated into Shiraishi Calcium Kaisha, Ltd.)
October 1972 Established Shiraishi Central Laboratories Co.,Ltd.
November   Established Sun Land Co.Ltd.
June 1973 Established Toyo Fine Chemical Co.,Ltd.
April 1978 Set up the Fukuyama Office
(November 2002 Consolidated into Hiroshima Office)
  Developed "Calshitec" series.
1983 Started production of "Cal-Light" porous calcium carbonate at Taiyo Kagaku Kogyo Kaisha,Ltd.
1987 Developed "Viscolite" Series.
February 1989 Established Keiyo Camaro Co.,Ltd.
1994 Started import and sales of high purity quartz
(Unimin Corporation, USA).
1997 Started import and sales of silica powder
(S.C.R. Sibelco, Belgium).
2002 Developed "Viscoexcel" Series.
2004 Developed "Valkofil" Series.
March   Tosa Plant certified an ISO9001.
March 2005 Hakuenka Plant certified an ISO9001.
January 2007 Head Office certified an ISO9001.
September Established Shiraishi-Omya GmbH.
December Started operations at Fujikawa Plant.
March 2008 Fuji Plant and Shiraishi Central Laboratories Co.,Ltd. certified an ISO9001.
March 2009 Fujikawa Plant certified as a Food Additives Good Manufacturing Practice(GMP).
    Taiyo Kagaku Kogyo Kaisha, Ltd. certified an ISO9001.
October   Started operations at Pilot Plant for Precipitated Calcium Carbonate.
March 2010 Toyo Fine Chemical Kaisha, Ltd. certified an ISO9001.
